Jami is no more usable

Avron - about 2 years ago -

It seems jami-gnome was removed and jami-qt has a dependency on qt6-webengine, which is blacklisted due to freedom issue.

So I guess Jami can't be used any more?

I have put a message in https://labs.parabola.nu/issues/3051 but I am also posting here to raise attention, as I am not sure what I should do.

just to be clear:

'jami-gnome' is usable; just as it always has been; and it will continue to be usable for some unknown period of time (probably years)

this is referring to 'jami-qt', which is not installable; but 'jami-qt' never was installable - it has been blacklisted since arch added it

the only thing that changed, is that 'jami-gnome' was removed from arch - so 'jami-gnome' is also not installable today; but it could be brought back into parabola, if people want to use it

it is important to clarify that; because if people believe that "Jami is no more usable", then no one will ask to bring it back

I had jami-gnome installed on my laptop with Parabola but had not tried using it. I tried but it did not start, so I concluded it wasn't working and uninstalled it.

I am still using Jami on my desktop with Debian, or on another laptop with Trisquel.

Thanks!

I tried to install it but pacman says it conflicts with your-freedom:

I don't know what needs to be done there.

the 'jami-qt' package is usable; but the 'your-freedom' package
will need to be rebuilt, before it will be possible to install
'jami-qt', without removing the 'your-freedom' package

i just published the new 'your-freedom' package a few minutes ago -
it may take a few hours for it to propagate to all mirrors
