Problems while installing Parabola on librebooted ThinkPad x60s

Hi everyone,

I am currently trying to install Parabola on a librebooted ThinkPad x60s. However, whenever I try to update the parabola keyring, I get error messages related to the fact that some signatures are of "marginal trust". I tried refreshing both that specific key and the entire keyring, but that won't do the job. I have an Atheros Wi-Fi card, so internet connection shouldn't be a probem. I also checked that the system date is correct. What could it be?

I tried to manually edit the Andreas Baumann key to full trust with gpg-edit, and that seems to initially solve the issue, but the installation gets stuck again due to the marginal trust of other different keys (of which I don't remember the exact ID).

I am using the Parabola OpenRC CLI ISO. May someone try to replicate the issue? I would like to understand whether this is an issue of a single user or related to some "bugs" in the Parabola keyring.

you can include any long texts by putting it in a file, and attaching the file with the "browse" button

for now i can only guess that you are stuck on the archlinux32 keyring - the latest archlinux32 keyring needs to be installed manually - if you are following the install guide, it is mentioned as a possible problem during install

# pacman -Sy archlinux-keyring parabola-keyring
# pacman -U https://www.parabola.nu/packages/core/i686/archlinux32-keyring-transition/download/

Hi bill-auger, you got that right. That's exactly where I am stuck and I seemingly cannot get out of it with any of the mentioned fixes. If needed, I can post the full output of the commands tomorrow (I am currently at work and I don't have my x60s with me).

I confirm that the error is due to the signature from Andreas Baumann () regarding the package archlinux-keyring. Is there a way to update the key, or to bypass the key verification for this particular package by editing pacman.conf?

from my 32bit laptop, the command that gives me an error is:

# pacman -Sy archlinux-keyring parabola-keyring

I see the error message related to the marginal trust of Andreas Baumann's signature. However, I just tried "splitting" the command in two parts, updating the archlinux-keyring and parabola-keyring separately, and I seemingly can update the parabola keyring, while the archlinux-keyring still gives me the mentioned error message. Attached is the full output.

ok that was the key bit of information we were missing - i should have known that was a 32bit laptop - i did not try installing the 32bit system - i get exactly the same error installing parabola i686 - i will figure out a solution for you today

abaumann's key is fine but; erichs key is expired and the keyservers do not have the update - you could probably install archlinux32 and migrate it to parabola - or check back tomorrow - i will find a solution

ok a new 32bit ISO will need to be made - but i have a temporary solution - run these commands in this specific order, then you can install the system:

# pacman -Sy parabola-keyring
# pacman -U https://repo.parabola.nu/pool/parabola/archlinux32-keyring-20220209-1.0.parabola2-any.pkg.tar.zst
# pacman -S archlinux-keyring

note that is not the same archlinux32-keyring as on the wiki - be sure to install the one with .parabola2 in the filename - it is the same keyring; but the signature is mine instead

bill-auger, it worked! I just went through the whole installation process. Live long and prosper! :)
