Redmine Packages - Freedom Issue #2012 (fixed): KDE depends on Qt5-Webengine (Duh...)https://labs.parabola.nu/issues/20122018-09-26T04:09:33Zbrettgilio

Unsurprisingly, a large portion of the KDE packages depend on Qt5-Webengine somewhere in their dependency tree. I am curious, as a long time KDE user, what if anything the Parabola community has done here to liberate the dozens upon dozens of KDE packages that are not installable because of this missing dependency. If there is something I can do to help with this, I am definitely interested.

Here is a small sampling:

The ring daemon is constantly failing and trying to reconnect after almost everything you can do in the client interface. Change SIP, search for another user, view preferences. The daemon will try to reconnect, but will crash and cause the interface to close.
Packages - Bug #1922 (fixed): QtCreator Clang versionhttps://labs.parabola.nu/issues/19222018-07-31T07:43:07Zbrettgilio

QtCreator can not be installed from the repos, as it depends on Clang=6.0.0
Clang is currently at 6.0.1.
Packages - Bug #1884 (open): nonprism and gnomehttps://labs.parabola.nu/issues/18842018-07-12T13:40:14Zbrettgilio

There is some sort of bug surrounding the gnome-settings-daemon.nonprism package and the ability to start gnome or GDM. I am wanting to be able to have the your-privacy package, which involves removing geoclue2, and reinstaling various nonprism equalivents such as the gnome-settings-daemon (to, I assume, not rely on geoclue2). However, whenever this replacement occurs, it causes X to prematurely interrupt with fatal errors regarding color setting management and XFkeyboard issues.
Packages - Packaging Request #1883 (fixed): Gradiohttps://labs.parabola.nu/issues/18832018-07-11T03:55:51Zbrettgilio

Gradio is a small, GTK-based client for internet radio streaming tied directly to a community-ran catalogue of stations. It is actively developed and would be a great addition to the repos for those of us who would like a minimal client for this express purpose.

https://github.com/haecker-felix/Gradio
Packages - Freedom Issue #1882 (not-a-bug): telegram-desktop only points to non-free SaaSShttps://labs.parabola.nu/issues/18822018-07-11T01:11:22Zbrettgilio

The telegram-desktop client is pretty popular among various communities. The client itself is free software, as well as the libraries needed to build and run them. However, the client at the moment only points to a non-free and non-auditable SaaSS. This SaaSS situation is an issue of freedom restricting and ethical compromise as it entices users of the client to unknowingly and knowingly subscribe to and use a non-free service. This distribution, being fully-free and FSF-endorsed distribution should come to a concensus on such software if it has not already.

Best,
Brett Gilio.

P.S. Check the IRC logs for some prior discussion on the matter.
