Redmine Packages - Bug #2824 (fixed): [linux-libre]: 5.7.3+ makes external (USB) ath9k devices unusablehttps://labs.parabola.nu/issues/28242020-07-02T01:49:04Zfreemor

Upgrading to linux-libre-5.7.6-1-x86_64 causes ath9k_htc to fail to initialize which causes the wifi adapter to not show up even though all modules are loaded.

On the Cusp of the transition form 6.2.5 to 6.3.x I took a look at the current 6.2.5 PKGBUILD from ARCH

It looks like the build may not be "Clean" 5 Precompiled bits are pulled in.
Of concern are:

With _additional_source_url2 being defined as:

https://dev-www.libreoffice.org/extern

Putting this here mostly so I don't forget to look at the new PKGBUILD

BUT!
/185d60944ea767075d27247c3162b3bc-unowinreg.dll <del>> function should be determined. Is there source any place? can de build from source. Is this just part of the LO-sdk and we can just blacklist the libreoffice</del>*-sdk packages
/8249374c274932a21846fa7629c2aa9b-officeotron-0.7.4-master.jar -> seems to be tied to a document (format) validation service "office-o-tron". Source for something of the same name exists at: https://github.com/alexbrn/officeotron.git
/49a64f3bcf20a7909ba2751349231d6652ded9cd2840e961b5164d09de3ffa63-opens___.ttf -> Clearly a font. Why Pre-compiled? How Used? What License? Can we loose it? Is there source some place?
/odfvalidator-1.2.0-incubating-SNAPSHOT-jar-with-dependencies-971c54fd38a968f5860014b44301872706f9e540.jar -> from the name also an document validator. All the same questions as above.

As course with the comming 6.3.x some of these may change/disappear. I'll keep an eye on that..

Tonight I pacman -Suy 'd and there was an update for libidn2 from Arch. This immediately broke [libre/systemd] causing most systemd commands to error out with "can't find libidn2.so.0"

I was able to work around it with:

sudo ln -s /usr/lib/libidn2.so /usr/lib/libidn2.so.0

This will most likely result in a borked system if the user forces a reboot without fixing it first.

libre/systemd NEEDS a rebuild

A warning of the issue and workaround instruction should be put in prevalent places until rebuild happens.

libretools - Bug #2101 (open): problem on cross compiling (some) large packages https://labs.parabola.nu/issues/21012018-11-27T13:10:14Zfreemor

recently on large cross compiles I've been running into:

/usr/bin/ld.gold: fatal error: lib/libwebkit2gtk-4.0.so.37.33.5: mmap: failed to allocate 1781955648 bytes for output file: Cannot allocate memory

At first I suspected it was some limit of my x200 But with 4GB ram and 7GB swap I couldn't see how.
Tried the same cross compile on Beefcake and it failed with the same error so clearly not a ram/swap issue

I searched online and this issue seems to come down to cross compiling with debug options turned on. Many people across many distros with the same error/issue (llvm seems to be implicated but I'll need to dig further to be sure).

I tried turning off 'debug' in makepkg.conf's global package options and the package built fine on my x200.

Not sure the best way to handle this. Clearly entering the librechroot and manually toggling the option seems a bit clunky.
Is there some option in PKGBUILDs to toggle this?
Anyone have an idea of what a real fix (as opposed to the disable debug workaround) would be.
libretools - Bug #2100 (not-a-bug): repo [build-support] needs to be added to the pacman.conf in ...https://labs.parabola.nu/issues/21002018-11-27T02:32:18Zfreemor

GNUtoo and I were noticing missing packages in i686 librechroots while trying to cross-compile stuff. After some digging I discovered there is a new [build-support] repo where libglvnd lives on i686

Manually adding this to pacman.conf in my i686 librechroot and then doing a pacman -Syy fixed the issue and libremakepkg can now find the packages it needs to compile.
