CURRENT INSPECTION:
1.libre/faenza-icon-theme 1.3.1-5.par1 (IN PROGRESS)
Has many common nonfree app icons eg. spotifil, facebool, gogol, apol and so on.
2.pcr/gnome-colors-icon-theme 5.5.1-3 & pcr/gnome-colors-icon-theme-extras 5.5.1-3 (IN PROGRESS)
Slighty nonfree distro reference, mainly about redhat and fedora
3.possibly others too...

Altough dont be so panic, i had created a sample script to easily handle these problems, it is very basic though, please forgive my incopetence :)

CLEANER SCRIPT:
1.nonfreeicondetect.sh
find nonfree icons within a folder and export their location into readable text file
2.faenzalibre.sh
a sample script created with info gathered from above script. use this to remove those nonfree icons. porting it for another icon needs slight play with find and replacing file urls
3.gnomecolorslibre.sh
a sample porting of above script, use for gnome colors & gnome colors extra icon theme
4.
Branding - Feature Request #2983 (in progress): new graphics for parabolahttps://labs.parabola.nu/issues/29832021-02-15T18:12:12Ztelurtelur@mailnesia.com

would be nice to add some visual to make visitor more engaged and welcoming in parabola homepage
maybe called it homesplash ?
its cool i guess if there is something new and appealing once a time we go to parabola homepage

i made an initial homesplash using adaptive two images that looks good if truncated portrait and landscape display
the rest maybe just need to add wiki snipplet to automaticaly center the image

sourcefiles are in attachment
example mockup are in forums
if you want me to make specific size png or else, just reply!
Installation Media - Bug #2982 (in progress): ncurses installer fails silentlyhttps://labs.parabola.nu/issues/29822021-02-15T10:32:19Ztelurtelur@mailnesia.com

after every installation step of parabola install.sh, the console shell get immediately replaced by ncurses installation interface, truncating possibly end error messages behind. it would be nice if there is a stop in like "the command is finished, press "enter" to go to next installation step" so user had a time to spot and make sure there is no error message in console shell occured.

a common issue like this is when pacman fail because of pgp signature error but user had already drawn into ncurses installation interface again and had no idea wheter the command executes successfully or not that might lead into total installation failure especialy for newbies and those who still in learning stage, if they can spot an error at least they know where is something wrong and not just bump installation fail into bugtracker.
Packages - Freedom Issue #2938 (not-a-bug): free license concernhttps://labs.parabola.nu/issues/29382020-11-26T06:33:29Ztelurtelur@mailnesia.com

please enlighten me if im wrong

in fsf essentials freedom, freedom 1 stated that everyone that choose to distribute libre software are obliged to release the source code as well.

lately i found that bsd family licenses doesnt enforce one to release source code, thus they are not obliged to make source available if they want.

im confused:
1.are bsd license fall into nonfree by these definition, because they allowed distribution without source code ?
2.and what about other license that had these similiar problem (non copyleft license in general) ?

some resources:

"The BSD license (unlike some other licenses) does not require that source code be distributed at all"

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/BSD_licenses

"The GPL is copyleft. It requires you have to disclose your source code and make the modified version open source as well.
The BSD license family (including the Modified License), on the other hand, doesn’t compel you to do any of the above. They have fairly relaxed redistribution terms."

https://resources.whitesourcesoftware.com/blog-whitesource/top-8-bsd-licenses-questions-answered

"
The Linux GPL license tends to be more strict on the developers, forcing a release of all modified source code. BSD developers on the other hand have no such restrictions. The thing to keep in mind is what the non-developing public gets out of all this.
Manufacturers may opt for BSD as their operating system of choice when creating new devices instead of Linux. This would allow them to keep the code modifications to themselves as the use of Linux would have come with the stipulation of releasing the source code to the public.
The restrictions set on Linux by their license provides those seeking applications for the system an assurance that if one is made, they will have access to it. The BSD license allows its developers the choice to remain greedy and tight-lipped on kernel and system modifications, meaning that even if something is made, the general public may not even have a clue to its existence.
"
