steps to reproduce:
1) # pacman --debug -Syyuu base
2) # pacman -S claws-mail
3) $ claws-mail

expected result:
splash screen of claws-mail client appears

I'm not entirely sure the package referenced on that list and the one in the repos are the same package; the LaunchPad page has no homepage link.

If they are the same, our audit process failed when adopting this package, although it's possible that list hadn't been written yet.
Packages - Freedom Issue #3244 (unconfirmed): [brutalchess] Potentially nonfree fontshttps://labs.parabola.nu/issues/32442022-04-15T18:55:25Zgap

The project itself has a libre license, but the fonts directory has no licenses for each font.
I strongly suspect they are nonfree, especially because the origin of the fonts are not documented, and a quick web search could not find the source for them under libre licenses.

Eg.
Ghostwri.ttf
appears to be the Ghostwriter font, and a quick web search yielded no results with a libre license.
Packages - Bug #3230 (unconfirmed): [adwaita-icon-theme] When using the "Adwaita" icon theme, som...https://labs.parabola.nu/issues/32302022-04-08T03:22:46Zh.ueno

When using the "Adwaita" icon theme, there is a problem with some icons not displaying.
This may have been caused by the most recent update on April 7.
Is anyone else experiencing a similar problem?

There are some veriations on the ASCII logos of the proprietary valve game "Portal".

The project also seems quite dead.
Packages - Freedom Issue #3143 (unconfirmed): [angband]https://labs.parabola.nu/issues/31432021-12-11T18:12:33Zgap

Whilst this package is already in the libre repo and has a lot of proprietary data removed, it turns out that even more proprietary data is lurking within.

The Adam Bolt 16×16 tiles have no license and as such are proprietary.

There may be proprietary headers for Windows.

I fear there may be even more proprietary files which have not been spotted yet.

See https://github.com/angband/angband/issues/5176 for more information.
Packages - Freedom Issue #3046 (unconfirmed): [dbeaver]: might endorse non-free database drivershttps://labs.parabola.nu/issues/30462021-06-03T03:25:36Zavalos

Hello! I installed
dbeaver
a while ago, and wondered if it was completely free, since it has a non-free enterprise edition and also supports a lot of commercial databases. Today, I noticed it might probably endorse non-free database drivers, since I can't seem to find the source code for some of them, such as for IBM DB2 (
com.ibm.db2
) and Oracle Database (
com.oracle.database.jdbc
). DBeaver offers to download and install them when you want to establish a connection to a specific DBMS.

I'm not sure whether DBeaver contains non-free components by default; but as far as I know, it doesn't. Still, you might want to check out which plugins are non-free so you can either patch dbeaver in order to remove them from the list, or blacklist dbeaver entirely along with its plugins included on the Arch repos (
dbeaver-plugin-*
).
Packages - Bug #2827 (unconfirmed): clisp repl requires ffcall to run but is not dependent to ithttps://labs.parabola.nu/issues/28272020-07-03T10:46:21Zbotplus

Do
pacman -Rs clisp ffcall
and
pacman -Syu clisp
. Now run clisp, you'll get the following error:

$ clisp
/usr/lib/clisp-2.49.93+/base/lisp.run: error while loading shared libraries: libffcall.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Indeed, installing
ffcall
resolves the problem. Person have to install
ffcall
perself, it's not a dependency of clisp package.
Packages - Bug #2813 (unconfirmed): apache logrotate file assumes systemdhttps://labs.parabola.nu/issues/28132020-06-21T13:16:23ZDrag0nFly

The included /etc/logrotate.d/httpd file for apache (2.4.43-1.0) assumes that the system is running systemd. Any graceful restarts after subsequent logrotation will
therefore fail, and logging for the service will cease.

This would probably be better handled with a post-install hook if a separate .nonsystemd package is not create which for instance would look like the following:

/var/log/httpd/*log {
missingok
sharedscripts
postrotate
rc-service httpd graceful 2>/dev/null || true
endscript
}
Packages - Bug #2686 (unconfirmed): Atril can't open pdfs on armhttps://labs.parabola.nu/issues/26862020-04-09T14:55:53ZTime4Tea

As far as I can see, the Atril document viewer is not able to open pdf files on arm (I am using a Chromebook C201). The application opens and I get an error: 'File type PDF is not supported'. I have tried with several different pdf files, in both LXDE and Mate.
Packages - Bug #2674 (unconfirmed): [clamav] Virus signatures licensinghttps://labs.parabola.nu/issues/26742020-04-07T00:55:00ZAnonymous

ClamAV is antivirus software and it uses virus signatures to detect malware. Most malicious software is non-free so there might be non-free signatures in the database.
Packages - Bug #2632 (unconfirmed): Default fonts in XFCE https://labs.parabola.nu/issues/26322020-02-15T09:39:57Zaniani@fsfe.org

My system: Parabola GNU/Linux-libre x86_64.

Description: After a recent upgrade the fonts got broken. The default fonts in my XFCE system has enlarged some of the characters. All of the numbers are larger, space and other symbols (* and #) are enlarged.

Expected behavior: All of the font symbols should have been unchanged in size.

Current behavior: All numbers in both regular and monospace default fonts in XFCE are enlarged in size. Other symbols are affected as well but it seems that alphabet characters remain as they should.
ppc64le - Bug #2610 (unconfirmed): Chroot file permission are bad created by librechroothttps://labs.parabola.nu/issues/26102020-01-21T16:12:01Zebrascaebrasca@librepanther.com

Chroot file permission are bad created by "librechroot -A ppc64le -n lxc-image make"
Packages - Bug #2525 (unconfirmed): Black theme color issueshttps://labs.parabola.nu/issues/25252019-10-30T16:08:48ZAnonymous

There are issues on Parabola with black theme which is installed using systemd complete Desktop ISO in some applications.
For example, Tor Browser uses white text color for permissions tab when viewing website info so this text is almost unreadable.
Packages - Freedom Issue #1427 (unconfirmed): [deepin]: some components integrate nonfree service...https://labs.parabola.nu/issues/14272017-07-30T12:02:20Zfelicienfelicien@hyperbola.info

I installed Deepin Desktop Environment recently on my GNU (Parabola) system using pacman ; downloaded packages came from community repo.
I detected two nonfree (or linked to nonfree software) features in deepin-file-manager and deepin-terminal.

deepin-file-manager

When I right-click on an empty zone in any window of the file manager, a menu appears, with a sub-menu called "New document".
It contains: "Office Text Document", "Spreadsheet Document", "Presentation Document" and "Plain Text Document".
The three first entries generate a MS Office text document, a MS Excel speadsheet document and a MS PowerPoint presentation document.

It should be replaced so it create ODT documents

deepin-terminal

When I select any word, and then righ-click on it, a menu appears, with an entry called "Google", which launchs a Google's search engine instance in my web browser.

We can imagin another behaviour, similar to KDE's: the user can toggle some default search engines (duckduckgo, searx, wikipedia, etc..) then applications refeer to it instead of one "mandatory" nonfree and malware search engine.

Thank you in advance for fixing it,

Best regards,
Félicien Pillot <felicien@gnu.org>
