the title of this issue is not very descriptive - i suggest "2017-05 mate ISO install fails"

ok i verified this today - this issue is very similar to one i reported for the 2016-11 ISO https://labs.parabola.nu/issues/1132 - it appears to be due to some packages missing from the ISO that are not fetched from the network either - see screenshot

as a side note i also noticed there are some typos in this installer that were present in the 2016.07 ISO but were corrected for the 2016.11 ISO - i suspect this ISO was built using an outdated branch or tools - note the patch below is not present in this ISO

The script tries to install packages which don't exist (they are deprecated). Anyways, this was fixed but we haven't released another official graphical ISO yet, however we are working on getting LXDE, so I'll mark this issue as "in progress"
