Packaging Request #1496
[udiskie-openrc] Add an openrc init script for udiskie to PCR
0%
Description
Udiskie is a very useful program that works with udisks/udisks2 to auto mount any storage devices that are plugged in. There is a systemd service but no OpenRC init script that I've been able to find searching the internet and Gentoo wiki.
I tried writing my own but ran into issues since it ended up auto mounting to /run/media/root instead of /run/media/$USER, even with "run user" added.
The systemd script can be found here: https://github.com/KaiSforza/systemd-user-units/blob/master/udiskie.service

Until then, XFCE > Settings > Session and Startup > Application Autostart > Add > Name: Udiskie & Command: udiskie

- Priority changed from feature to wish
Gentoo doesn't even use the systemd service
https://gitweb.gentoo.org/repo/gentoo.git/tree/sys-fs/udiskie
Neither usdisks2
https://gitweb.gentoo.org/repo/gentoo.git/tree/sys-fs/udisks
Nor Hyperbola has a service/initscript
https://git.hyperbola.info:50100/packages/community.git/tree/udiskie
So you want us to create an init script, because "Add an openrc init script for udiskie to PCR" sounds like adding something that already exists. But there isn't.
Anyways, is it too necessary? with your autostart workaround is enough. Remember that Systemd has services for many things because it is bloated and tries to do and manage everything, but not so OpenRC.
Now, if you really really want an initscript for this, post here your draft so I can complete/fix it and you test it for later packaging to [pcr]

I'd completely forgotten about this request. I made this before I knew devmon existed. No idea what I was thinking when I made this, it can be closed.
