Description

i accidentally cleared the log but ring said

[pribib@ed ~]$ ring.cx
gnome-ring: error while loading shared libraries: libicui18n.so.61: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

[pribib@ed ~]$ pacman -Ss icu
core/icu 61.1-1 [installed: 60.2-1]
International Components for Unicode library

then i updated icu and now:

[pribib@ed ~]$ ring.cx
gnome-ring: error while loading shared libraries: libicui18n.so.60: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

[pribib@ed ~]$ stellarium
stellarium: error while loading shared libraries: libicui18n.so.60: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

maybe this is not a gnome-ring error

gnome-ring was removed. Use ring-gnome instead.

yes that explains a lot - you need to manually remove 'gnome-ring' and manually install 'ring' instead

i think the problem is that you have ring installed from before when it was a parabola package - last month arch started packaging it and they gave it a different name - but the parabola package was not automatically removed

remove all of ring, ring-gnome, ring-kde, gnome-ring, ring-daemon, ring-lrc libringclient, opendht if you have them
then install 'ring'

'stellarium' is also an arch package - you maybe just need to re-install that too - i am closing this issue but do open a new one if 'stellarium' is still a problem
