Description

I run x86_64 Parabola GNU/Linux-libre.

When I start GNU Octave I am presented with a warning message dialog with the text:

Could not copy help collection to temporary file. Search capabilities may be affected.
Cannot create index tables in file /usr/share/octave/4.4.1/doc/octave_interpreter.qhc.

There is no output in either STDOUT or STDERR during the launch and use of this program.

Once clicking "OK" I am presented by the program and I have the option to click on a tab with the text "Documentation" on it. This tab is completely empty in content. I see white and no text. Hovering over the white space under "Contents" makes the cursor switch into a loading cursor and doesn't finish.

It is impossible to use this program and I can't see how to use it.

See attached screenshots (2).

Versions:

octave 4.4.1-7
