Patch: 0001-omap34xx-SPL-enable-MMC-raw-boot-with-u-boot.img.patch
Thread: patch, refusal
Affected devices: All the devices supported by uboot4extlinux-omap3, which is currently several Beagleboards (Normal, XM, maybe other) which are supported by u-boot's omap3_beagle

Rationale

In our OMAP u-boot4extlinux package, I patched u-boot to enable to boot from RAW offsets. We need to find a way to upstream that as the previous attempt was rejected and that using partitions is way less convenient as it forces us to use vfat, which don't have symlinks for instance. This is then problematic for configuration such as syslinux.cfg where you cannot have configuration that is independent from the fact that you have a separate /boot partition or not because you cannot add symlinks in vfat filesystems.

TODO

We need to find a way to address the concerns mentioned by the reviewer
