Freedom Issue #3046
[dbeaver]: might endorse non-free database drivers
0%
Description
Hello! I installed dbeaver
a while ago, and wondered if it was completely free, since it has a non-free enterprise edition and also supports a lot of commercial databases. Today, I noticed it might probably endorse non-free database drivers, since I can't seem to find the source code for some of them, such as for IBM DB2 (com.ibm.db2
) and Oracle Database (com.oracle.database.jdbc
). DBeaver offers to download and install them when you want to establish a connection to a specific DBMS.
I'm not sure whether DBeaver contains non-free components by default; but as far as I know, it doesn't. Still, you might want to check out which plugins are non-free so you can either patch dbeaver in order to remove them from the list, or blacklist dbeaver entirely along with its plugins included on the Arch repos (dbeaver-plugin-*
).
