Description

  • steps to reproduce:
    ~ $ sudo pacman -S texlive-latex
  • expected result: package installed without conflicts
  • actual result:
    error: failed to commit transaction (conflicting files)
    dvisvgm: /usr/bin/dvisvgm exists in filesystem (owned by texlive-bin)
    dvisvgm: /usr/share/man/man1/dvisvgm.1.gz exists in filesystem (owned by texlive-bin)
    Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.

Yep, that happens with in Arch too. Adding

--overwrite /usr/bin/dvisvgm --overwrite /usr/share/man/man1/dvisvgm.1.gz

solves it

is that really the suggested solution? - arch usually posts a news alert when manual intervention is required; and i or someone else usually re-posts it to parabola news
