There are plugins to stream from soundcloud and magnatune. Does it promote DRM?

i would not say that streaming from those servers is necessarily "promoting DRM" as long as the program does not assist with decoding the encrypted media - for example if the program will only stream or index non-DRM selections from those servers but will reject DRM selections and not index them
are you saying that this program will actively decode DRM-encrypted music?
or that it offers DRM-only selections on a list?

What I am saying is "please make sure this is not doing anything that promotes a user to stream DRM:ed music".

but what makes you think that there might be any problem with this particular program ?
why would you not ask "make sure that VLC player does not promote DRM" - do you suspect rhythmbox itself of containing DRM decoders or do you simply believe that it is not possible for any program to stream music from soundcloud and magnatune without DRM
like the other issue with the warsaw game - i would like to avoid acting upon wild accusations - we should require some evidence or at least a reasonable suspicion before taking rash actions

I am just suspicious of any kind of "streaming service" that they are not in fact avoiding using DRM.

magnatune streams are standard mp3s, Easy to verify.
- browse to magnatune with JS disabled
- Click on a song link
- URL is in the format "http://he3.magnatune.com/music/Love%20Amplifier/Critical%20Mass/01-Origin-Love%20Amplifier_spoken.mp3"
- wget the file.
- file 01-Origin-Love%20Amplifier_spoken.mp3 reports standard MP3. So No DRM
Similar but more complicated verification can be done with SoundCloud. using Iceweasel's developer tools
same result stream objects are standard MP3s. thus no DRM
