It used to be a true monospace font. It changed to a font which reminds me of DejaVu Sans.

Information such as:
when did it change?

A week ago or a little bit less than that.

How did it change?

I noticed that my terminal had a font with different sizes for the letters, I couldn't read the terminal very good.

in what application?

XFCE terminal and Emacs, others too.

while you were doing what?

I updated with pacman -Syu and rebooted the computer. I logged in to XFCE and opened a terminal with Alt + F3.

posting screen caps of the font rendering issue would be helpful

Done.

What are the font settings in the application in which you are seeing the change?

I attach a screenshot of a font here. It is not monospace visually but the name says "monospace".

I just checked the font name: Monospace Regular.

Program: XFCE Terminal.
