runs fine on my i686 system.
Please ensure your system in in a consistent state by issuing:
sudo pacman -Suy
at the commandline. If the problem persists please provide exact steps to reproduce.

$ sudo pacman -Suy :: Synchronizing package databases... libre 346,6 KiB 1238K/s 00:00 [----------------------] 100% core is up to date extra is up to date community is up to date pcr is up to date :: Starting full system upgrade... there is nothing to do
It's easily reproduced just by running octopi. Something is off with QT since it0s the same with #2281
$ octopi qt5ct: using qt5ct plugin Cannot mix incompatible Qt library (version 0x50c02) with this library (version 0x50c01) Aborted (core dumped)

as with smplayer.. This in NOT easily reproduced. On my fully up to date i686 Parabola system it works flawlessly.
Looks like the problem my be with your system
please see the instructions in the smplayer BR. follow those.
if that step does not fix this we'll have to figure what is bent in your system and why

- Status changed from info needed to forwarded upstream
this is a known bug already reported upstream - it applies to all QT-based GUI programs - it is caused by the qt5-styleplugins package which was built against the QT in the testing repos
the fix for now is to remove 'qt5-styleplugins' - this will cause all QT programs to be ugly, but they will start
