Freedom Issue #2544
various packages embedding non-free fonts in bundled pdf files
0%
Description
some packages in the repos contain pdf files whith embedded non-free fonts. Examples include:
- libreoffice-fresh
- ghostscript
- fontforge
possibly more.
We need to start thinking about how to tackle this. Ideally, we would not need to blacklist and rebuild all the affected packages, because I would assume they are many. Instead, maybe we could automatically remove the embedded fonts on repo import and repackage and re-sign the affected packages.
This seems to fly under the radar of other FSDG distros, so we might want to send a post to the mailing list to trigger a discussion.

Do I understand correctly that this is the most suitable mailing list for the discussion? https://lists.nongnu.org/mailman/listinfo/gnu-linux-libre

yes that is the list for all things FSDG
- general questions and cross-distro discussions regarding
how to interpret the FSDG - evaluating new distros interested in FSF endorsement
- complaining if some FSDG distro fails to act upon
long-standing FSDG-related bug reports
