Packaging Request #3285
[nsxiv] Minimalistic, extensible image viewer
0%
Description
This package is already in the AUR, is popular, and appears to be libre.
I think it's also likely to replace sxiv
in the official Arch repos at some point, because it was recently deprecated, and nsxiv
is a maintained, drop-in replacement.

Bump: please may someone send the report that sxiv
was deprecated upstream to Arch?
I think it's very likely they'll replace sxiv
with nsxiv
because it's an actively maintained drop-in replacement, which will save us time having to package it and maintain the package ourselves.

- Status changed from open to info needed
what exactly are you expecting to happen?
the 'sxiv' program is available in the repos now - if these are the same program, then there is no reason to do anything - if arch decides to replace 'sxiv' with 'nsxiv', then still there is no reason to do anything -it will simply happen or it wont
if arch decides to remove the program entirely, still it would be difficult to make a case to do any anything about that - per the description, it is a "Simple X Image Viewer" - there are already many packages in the repos with that same general description - gpicview,, feh, imv, qiv, pqiv, geeqie, kuickshow, lximage-qt, nomacs, and more
